A flexible and extensible web design system for Square's evolving visual identity — spanning marketing, product, and developer tooling.
As a Design Technologist at Block, I contributed to the public-facing web design system that underpinned Square's marketing and product web presence. The system needed to flex across a rapidly evolving brand while remaining stable enough for teams across the company to ship confidently.
Work spanned component architecture, design token systems, and close collaboration with designers to close the gap between intent and implementation.
Square's web presence had grown organically across teams — inconsistent markup patterns, duplicated components, and no shared source of truth. Brand updates required touching dozens of isolated codebases.
Built a modular, token-driven component library with clear extension points — allowing teams to adopt the system without being locked into it. Authored documentation and contributed to the processes that defined how the Design Technologist role operated at Block.
